David Lawrence's Children's Trust: What's Up? By Geniusofdespair

I have three questions:
1. Why did the Children's Trust form a Political Action Committee in March '06? A PAC is not a non-profit.
2. Why did the Gloria Estefan Foundation take back $25,000 in March '07?
3. Why did the Children's Trust PAC pay $20,000 for a poll in April '07?

Anyone have answers? Are they going for some legislation? (Hit on image to enlarge)

The Children's Trust was created via referendum in 2002.The ballot language included a sunset provision, which means "the sun sets" on The Children's Trust in 2008, unless the voters decide to reauthorize it on August 26 when it will be on the ballot again. A separate PAC was created to raise private funds to pay for a campaign leading up to that 2008 referendum. The poll was paid for by those private PAC dollars.

Thanks reader...appreciate the info...what do you think the Estefan thing is about? And why did they need to poll? Anything with kids people vote for...it is not like they had to figure that out with an expensive poll.

The $25,000 check was returned because, by law, a PAC can not accept a foundation contribution. Why poll? Believe it or not, it is not a slam dunk that The Children's Trust will be reauthorized. You may not know that the very first time a dedicated funding source for children was put before the voters, it failed. It took many years before the second successful attempt. Strong anti-property tax sentiment and scandal plagued government agencies creates a very difficult climate for The Children's Trust. So it can not sit back and relax, assuming it has nothing to worry about come election time in August. The PAC must and will act accordingly to poll and mount a professional campaign to make sure the valuable work of The Children's Trust continues.

By the way Sergio Bendixen, the master poller is currently receiving $30,000.00 salary from The Children's Trust yearly - to do what ? there is some kind of payoff going on...makes no sense why out tax money is going to a pollster when an election is over with a contract for 7 years -

I agree 100% with July 30, 2009 - there is definitely something going on dirty there - it obvious that no one wantes to investigate cuz the dirt will come out and it will be an embarassment for the Mayor and County Manager - its a total 100% scam - considering a member of the Mayors Staff is on the Board of the Trust - ....lol
I wonder how many suits they have had filed againt them and settlements they have had from former employees.....no one can come up with that - I heard it was dozens......
