In the last post a reader, Pitbull, brought up that the voter lists are not reliable and I have to agree. It is probably because people don't fix their records when they relocate.
I don’t know where the candidates get their voter lists (I would suppose from Dept. of Elections) but they ARE very out-of-date. I have made calls for numerous candidates over the years and a lot of the older 5’s are dead. Many of the young have moved. (a 5 is someone who has voted in the last 5 elections so they are mainly older). Sometimes while calling I think to myself: Has everyone in Florida moved? I don’t want to generalize but in some neighborhoods the disconnected and wrong numbers are more prevalent. I wonder what cell phones are going to do to these lists?
Candidates usually concentrate on the 4’s and 5’s. When they walk door to door they call on only these voters so if you don’t get visits from a candidate that might be why. Although I am a 5, I just get their junk mail and recorded phone calls, I never get a visit. Sometimes they poll me and I give inaccurate information if I don’t like the candidate (I can guess who is doing the poll by the questions of the pollster).
