Getting beyond the Turkey Point Nuclear expansion for a moment, check out this very good 7 minute discussion Nuclear Energy Friend or Foe:
"Bruno Comby and Frédéric Marillier are both French environmentalists who believe global warming is real, dangerous, and has to be stopped. But Marillier heads the anti-nuclear campaign of Greenpeace France. He advocates renewable energies rather than a nuclear industry that he argues is expensive, dangerous and unreliable. Bruno Comby is president of Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy. He believes nuclear power is needed to help reduce co2 emissions and that global warming poses a bigger threat than nuclear catastrophe. Two different approaches to saving the planet..."

So Bloggers, who wins this video debate? One comment I will make is that electric power can be used too offset petroleum usage. In Europe eclectic trains carry thousands of passengers. Electricity can be used to make hydrogen to power fuel cells in cars. I know I'm biased.
nobody wins. it is like getting an electric shock to get a food pellet...you need the food but what are the consequences?
Ahhh. the hydrogen economy, what ever happened to Arnold's hydrogen Hummer? Everbody knows that there will be no hydrogen economy.
The French know the costs of nuclear energy, just ask not if but how radioactive the oysters off the coast of Normandy are and everybody knows the answer except for the state and EDF (the french power company).
