I couldn’t figure out exactly what he did. He had a card that said he was the Sales Director for The Gospel Truth. Clay would ride up on his bicycle wearing a leather hat and the most creative outfits. He always had a smile, a kiss or a hug for everyone he recognized. He always remembered a face. I saw him at functions around town. I Liked him. Was so sorry to hear he died. He always brightened my day!

What, am I the only one on this blog that knew Clay? That couldn't be possible. You have to get out more if you didn't know Clay...
No, you're not. I knew him for years, and he always had a hug and a smile and a pleasant thing to say. I didn't know he died, thanks for letting me now.
A really nice guy.
I knew Clay Hamilton for about fourteen years. I realized that he liked some politicians. Once in a while he helped them campaign or get to important cultural events. When he really like them, he walked door to door for them soliciting support and encouraging people to vote.
While he was underemployed several years ago, I had the occassion to hire him to assist in some canvassing I was organizing. Many years later he was pleasant and kind to me. He offered to work pro bono for a good cause I supported at the time.
I always marveled at his happy replies to how he was doing. I know he was a spiritual man, almost always remarking sometime during our conversations that he was blessed.
Rest in Peace, Clay.
A friend from South Miami
Clayton was a delightful person to know.... I once saw him dance with joy for hours (not 2 or 3, but more like 8 straight) at a cookout we hosted. Clayton always possessed a pleasant & positive perspective even in times of trial.
His panama hat, his vest and his infectious smile will be missed but remembered by all he touched whether just for a moment or embraced for decades.
We will miss you, Clayton......

Clay always lit up the room, and he never failed to bring on a smile. He always exuded optimism, love for others and a thirst for life.
He was not a usual HSC board member. He was our VP for almost two years, drawn here by the passion and commitment he observed in our work.

Memorial this Friday night.
I remember when Clay was working for Miami SunPost doing ad sales. And Clay was a great promotor of the Rotary Club...
I actually did know someone who didn't get Clay but that told me a lot about that person. What was not to like? To me, a good friend is someone who'll be there in five minutes, who is loyal and reliable and can keep a confidence. Clay was all of these and more. Only the most superficial person wouldn't get that but then again, this is Miami.
Clay was a gem, kind and thoughtful, spiritual and cheerful. He brought me a copy of "The Feminine Mystique" years ago. One night we sang karaoke at Hooligans we sang "Ünforgettable" together. As I read the sad news I realized that this is how I will remember him. Thanks Genius of Despair for remembering this special person,I will miss him.
