According to Reporter Michael Vasquez, Mary Conway, the Fired Miami operations chief files grievance .
I didn't pay close attention to the story until I saw who her lawyer was: Andres Rivero (wasn't he the Maestre slap suit lawyer?). He is a shark. We now have a different ball game. What's the City going to do now? Andres should shake some money out of this.

Yes, Rivero was the attorney for the Mestre slap suit. He is a rude and cruel attorney. Mestre eventually dropped the suit when it was ordered that he would have to sit for deposition. But it was too late for the citizen he sued for passing a flyer to neighbors alerting them to contamination in their drinking water from Mestre's dump. The family was economically ruined (not to mention mental stress) and was forced to sell and move.
Rivero also ran against Gimenez and Suarez for District 7.. I find it even more interesting that he supported Suarez for the run-off. The Mestre case was heavily reported on by the Miami New Times at the time, for those who are not aware of what happened there.. Real big mess.
I have met and spoken to Andres a few times, and as a fellow attorney, I found him to feel, look and act like the shark-stereo-type we ar all too familiar with...
As for Mary (best friend of Related-Mercy's Alicia Cuervo (ex assistant City Manager, who paved the way for Mercy to be heard before the election, which was subsequently halted by the City Commission for political concerns)) hire my husband's firm Conway, she was involved in more than a few shady deals after she assumed the possition of CIP Director. The firm that was hired to perform the Program Management also so happens to employ her husband. They have an office in the MRC building, yet, they claim they are not subject to Chapter 119 Florida Statutes. She is a bad apple, and I am very happy to see her go!!!
What about the taxpayers? Who can they sue? Mary Conway let 10 of her employees steal from the taxpayers for well over a year. Since the now indicted employees were not doing City work the taxpayers were forced to pay consultants to get the jobs done. Maybe that is why Mary's department got so much in debt? Who will reimburse the taxpayers?
dear Taxpayers got screwed:
Wasn't Mary a whistle blower...it does take a long time to build a case against the "Firm." I am not sure she is to blame....
If the Department you head needs to get work done and 20% of your very well paid employees are doing no work, yet taking their City paychecks what do you do? Let them stay doing no work? Fire their asses and hire some legitimate workers? Hire outside consultants to do the work your employees are being paid to do?
Weren't many of Mary Conways projects 200% to 300% over budget?
Who is trying to recover money for the taxpayers?
Sorry Genius,
That whistleblower claim is a slap in the face to anyone who has ever been a real whistleblower.
She was incompetent when she was hired as the transportation director (speaking of bad apples, she is the Citys version of Kathy Sweetapple!)and only further continued to screw things up as she was promoted .
Good Riddance.
i don't like Kathy Sweetapple, now you turned my stomach.
Why are so many of people Joe Arriola hired at the City of Miami so incompetent? And why are they so overpaid?
Wasn't Joe Arriola responsible for the Fire Fee fiasco? And for all the no-bid contracts? Didn't Arriola promote Mary Conway to $160,000 per year? While 20% of her department did no work?
