Why We Live in Florida? Here is one reason. By Geniusofdespair
Reported by an Eye on Miami reader:
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is the proud owner of a rare ghost orchid in bloom. When first discovered last week it had 12 flowers. When I got to see it on Sunday it was down to 7.
If you get the chance, take a run out there and take a peek. They are getting visitors from all over the world for this orchid.
A word of warning, if you haven't been to the Naples area recently, take a barf bag.
What used to be a quiet back road to Corkscrew is now a six lane road surrounded by Mcmansions painted in the same Stepford color palette they use here. (photo supplied by reader) Another reader supplied the photo below on why she loves Florida. (Hit on it to make it larger)

Looks like the Herald does read Eye on Miami!
I can send you a pic of the Hibiscus mentioned in their article -maybe that will spur a blurb about that gorgeous flower in the Herald next week.
