Guest Blogger: Alex Fuentes on Bay of Pigs Museum & Library

The elected officials of the City of Hialeah should be negotiating with this organization and Hialeah Park's ownership to bring the BAY OF PIGS museum to Hialeah. South Florida cannot afford to loose any more precious waterfront. What better place than Hialeah Park for such a museum?

The proceeds from such a deal may be utilized to restore the aging structures that helped make the world renowned Hialeah Park “the most beautiful race course in the world.”

Bestowing such an honor upon the people of Hialeah will also make it much easier for racing to return.

The city of Hialeah is the most Cuban city outside of Havana. It is also the fifth largest population in the State. The park has the beauty, the land, direct metro rail access, and the prestigious history.

Hialeah needs this.

(County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro has proposed putting the museum/library on the waterfront side of the American Airlines Arena - Called Parcel B).

Exactly how many Cuban Museums does Miami need?
Isn't the one going into the Opera bldg at Five Points more than enough?

I think they need as many as they want.

Great idea! The Cuban-American elite often trigger resentment in Miami with their political actions however, why not put it to good use. They are very active on this cause, why not put this museum in the most loyal city to the cause of freedom.

Hialeah Park offers several areas where the Bay of Pigs Museum could be housed. In addition to this, Hialeah may offer the Bay of Pigs Museum & Library several other areas in the city.

Sacrificing the remaining bay view in downtown Miami is ludicrous (crazy) and only looks like a business sin the making rather than a way to help create a real downtown, which needs the bay view, park area and a nightlife! The Bay of Pigs Museum & Library deserves its own grounds and buildings; they don't need to share space or be subjected or restricted to other area events and have to suffer from traffic jams and lack of parking scenarios.

The government and people of Hialeah will grant the Bay of Pigs Museum & Library a warm welcome and incredible community support. The city of Hialeah is quite capable of developing this tourism product, while helping the Bay of Pigs veterans earn a respectable place for their museum and library.

I do not believe in all that I read here on this website and so happy to know about it. I do not know what happen with the Bay of Pigs Museum in SW 8 Street but Hialeah is a good other place for it. I will go many times. My sister is the one to tell me about the Caragol writing on this website and Thank you to Milly for the email.
