How the Supreme Court Voted - Global Warming Case by Geniusofdespair

It irks me that the Miami Herald never tells you how the individual judges on the Supreme Court votes on important cases (and why was this on Page 3?). I wanted to know who the swing vote was- I even read the entire article looking for a name. Yes we always know how Clarence Thomas is going to vote (rest in peace dear Thurgood Marshall) however there was a swing on this one, who was it?

Kennedy was the swing vote.

Here is how they voted according to the Supreme Court website: STEVENS, J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which KENNEDY, SOUTER, GINSBURG, and BREYER, JJ., joined. ROBERTS, C. J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which SCALIA, THOMAS, and ALITO, JJ., joined. SCALIA, J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which ROBERTS, C. J., and THOMAS and ALITO, JJ., joined.

Glad you are reporting the voting record of the Supreme Court.
It would also be most enlightening to be informed of the voting record for our City of Miami Commissioners and Miami-Dade County Commissioners.
If local magazines and newspapers can report crime statistics then our media should also keep score and report who is voting for what. After all, are not some of the votes cast by our so called government representatives a crime against our community as well!

It is astonishing how close the vote was: 5-4 and shows the importance of elections-- like this past November, when one senate seat made the difference between more years of having to listen to James Inhofe and his crackpot theories about global warming, or, Barbara Boxer. Congress is going to need to straighten out the EPA, though. The agency is a disaster, hollowed-out from the inside by political operatives of the Bush White House. It may take the 2008 election before anything happens on the federal level re global warming.
