Lennar: Where are you going to get your water for Parkland?

Lennar has this MEGA Development in the works: It is called Parkland.
It has close to 7,000 homes slated for about 960 acres bounded by SW 136 Street on the North, SW 162 Avenue on the East and SW 152 Street on the South, and SW 177 Avenue on the West -

Yadda yadda -- Already told you about it in my previous posts Parkland.

Since my other posts were published, there has been a very important change in the South Florida Water Management District's water allocations for new developments. Developments needing additional water supplies will now be required to seek sources that are not dependent on the Everglades for recharge. Continued building in Florida is now directly linked to availability of drinking water. The new rule, according to the South Florida Business Journal, in conjunction with state legislation passed in 2005, requires future development must be coordinated with water supply, similar to other concurrency laws that consider the impact of growth on schools and streets. See my post Big News on Water Supply. And hit on the letter above: the County will not be providing infrastructure.

So follow along,
In order to do a MEGA development, known as a Development of Regional Impact, you have to tell the State where the drinking water is coming from, and the waste water is going to. It is not coming from the South Florida Water Management District. It is not coming from Miami Dade County...(see letter) in this article. Unless, of course, these rotten County Commissioners approve moving the Urban Development Boundary for Easton/Lennar. If that happens, you will be helping to subsidize the unfunded infrastructure for this development which has been denied thus far.

Scream Bloody Murder!

Every thinking person in the County knows that for bribes the Commission will give a developer anything he wants. Obviously the developer also knows that. We have to find some way to let the Commissioners know that we know what they are doing and if enough of the voting public knows and makes it clear to the gang that we will not put up with the bribery anymore, perhaps they will be afraid to lose their jobs and not go along this time.

Elected officials need to represent all the people, not just the well connected and their fund raisers. Since they are the peoples representatives, their job is to do what is best to promote quality of life in the region for the long term, instead of allowing sprawl, overcrowded schools, insufficient infracture, and clogged roadways.

Nice letter.

Don't let certain people see it. It will get the authors fired.

Let's pipe in water from the gulf stream, and return fine rock back to the beaches. That way, the east county gets to share with the west and vice versa. Sigh.

The letter is on line at the State Agency: South Florida Regional Planning Council. Everyone that could fire Bertha has seen it.
