After the FTAA protests in Miami in 2003, we have high regard for anyone willing to peaceably demonstrate on the streets of Miami. The bitter aftertaste of watching massive shock and awe by police unleashed on free-trade objectors has not worn off.
A dozen protesters against Big Coal’s polluting ways were met by as many police and squad cars. (The photo, from this morning, as protesters were getting their permit squared away.)
It is perfect winter weather in Miami. The law enforcement officers on assignment are glad for the chance to enjoy a rare cool day outside.
The protesters are gathered on the sidewalk far from the conference at the Ritz Carlton.
Barricades by the dozens are neatly stacked. Parking that might obstruct vision of protesters is prohibited. Coal conference attendees are delighted to be in Florida.
Global warming goes on.

I guess with this and the slum village Miami is getting the attention it deserves during the superbowl!
