Ileana Ros-Lehtinen: What are you saying? By Geniusofdespair

I like to learn lesson from my politicians. After all, they are bright(?) people that we want to emulate. Right? They represent us and are “Our Face” to the rest of the world. Well, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said, in a documentary video clip: “I welcome the opportunity of having anyone assassinate Fidel Castro and ANY OTHER LEADER WHO IS OPPRESSING THE PEOPLE.”

Taking that advice to heart, learning from my politicians, I applied it to another story in the Herald today. Natacha Seijas --- After all aren’t some of the people discontent in her district (35% of the 10% who voted) and probably close to 90% of us out of her district. Some people in and out of her district feel oppressed by her. Frankly I do. I can’t speak in front of the Commission without being crushed by her acid tongue and insults. She has silenced me — Yes here in America! She has silenced Senator Gwen Margolis with a threat. Did Gwen Margolis feel oppressed by Natacha saying she wanted to send (then Commission Chair) Gwen home in a body bag?

The dictionary says of oppressed: “To crush or burden by abuse of power or authority.” That fits Natacha Seijas. Surely Ileana wasn’t suggesting that we stop recalling her and start some other action?

Yes, we can learn from our leaders...Not!

Applying my wackiest logic, I think that I have learned five things from reading today’s Herald:

1. That Natacha will now be more insufferable then ever (even though a paultry 10% of her district voted) but we still shouldn’t take Ileana’s advice, even though Natacha makes threats of harm to others.

2. Ileana will be doing a lot of back-pedaling.

3. The Recall was a lot of fun. We should do it again sometime.

4. That I would like to be a fly on the wall of the Dexter Lehtinen and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen home. What could they be talking about?

5. Lehtinen is a hard name to spell (like Gyllenhaal).

Natacha Seijas is an oppressive woman. Ask plenty of people, ask the head of the NAACP, Bishop Curry.

But I don't think we should assassinate her I think Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has given us bad advice. Hell, if we assassinated all the politicians in Miami opressing the people we would only have a handful left. Does anyone know if Ileana is a leader who is oppressing the people?

Emulating our elected officials...it does seem a bit difficult to stomach these days. Well I suppose it's nothing new. It might be fun to emulate the acrimony displayed by some elects, at least for a day, to see how much of a rush it must be. I would really be curious also in emulating how to work full-time on a $6,000 salary while staying true to my core, immune to the interest of $500/hr. lobbyists.

Maybe to look for guidance from within the political pool is an exercise in futility, like swimming laps in perpetuity's "pool", never gaining any ground, only going in circles and gulping the vapid chlorine of reality as you go. Think how few officials truly maintain integrity in words and actions over the course of their tenure.

Electronic machines receive and deliver our votes now, perhaps electronic beings should just represent us altogether. Why not free ourselves from the faults of the flesh? Why be burdened with educating ourselves or the electorate? People seem unwilling enough to just go to the polls, why would they expect honor and dignity from their representatives? MIT has been developing automated technology long enough to where they probably have something that could say "Yay" or "Nay" with the flippancy of any human on any number of local, state, or national issues that make or break our quality of life. For that's what the notion of artificial life and technology has been about: easing the transition to freeing ourselves from the burdens we've tired of, both physical and mental.

Or maybe this is all wrong. Maybe the rise of the blog will be the last domain for our Paul Revere's,(or Genius of Dispairs') sounding the alarm of sanity just enough to keep us all from easing gently to sleep for good; prodding us, in the early days of the 21st century to keep the spotlight on the folly of our officials and their policies before submitting to robotic rule amid our final hybernation. I guess I would prefer that. But then, I'm only human.
