Hispanic, Anders Gyllenhaal, To Replace The Retiring Tom Fiedler At Miami Herald By Geniusofdespair

He really isn’t Hispanic but I bet the title left you thinking/questioning: "Gyllenhaal doesn't sound like a Hispanic name." Actually I think David Landsberg wanted to replace Fiedler because Tom did not have enough “A’s” in his name. Anders looks nice enough in this photo and he abounds with "A's" (and there is that bonus of 2 sets of side by side double letters see "Hiaasen" and "Barry" as examples of names the Herald lusts after). Maybe Gyllenhaal will rehire Jim DeFede again. Oh, no, Jim has too many “E's” in his name. It probably won’t happen.

And, there is an added bonus for the Herald, I am sure they have not overlooked: Think of all the irate emails that will be returned to sender because we spelled his name wrong.

Who is this guy google? I found him on the Pulitzer Prize page but he is a Board Member, not a winner. Anders Gyllenhaal was named editor and senior vice president at the Star Tribune, Minneapolis-St. Paul, in 2002. Previously, Gyllenhaal (pronounced JILL-in-hall), was executive editor and senior vice president of The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., becoming editor in 1997.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania, Gyllenhaal is a graduate of George Washington University. He spent 12 years at the Miami Herald as a reporter, editor and head of the paper's Fort Lauderdale office. Gyllenhaal

''It's a true privilege to come back to The Miami Herald, an exceptional newspaper in the most interesting part of the country,'' Gyllenhaal said. Ha Ha Ha...oh, he was serious. Sorry.

Heard some good things about him already on the street: He is related to the Actor Jake (hmmm... that also could be bad, if Jake starts dating Brittany there will be more of that in the Herald). He has a very strong background as an investigative journalist - THANK THE LUCKY STARS for that. F-I-N-A-L-L-Y some more politicians will go to prison.

Wasn't Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain? That is the most interesting thing about this new guy...his cute relative.

He must be of Swedish origin, given the name. Swedes are smart, often honest, hard working, very concerned about safety, and cute, but honey they are boring......

Everybody, except for the aristocrats, has just about the same name in Sweden. Johnsson, Carlsson, etc... because back when Sweden was poor no one had last names at all. So he may not be related to Jake after all :(

Is his family part of the neo-colonial immigration to Latin America from northern europe in the 1800s and early 1900s? I hope he doesn't hold the same bias, like all the "white european Latins" who work at El Nuevo Herald! Its like the "who is more white and less indigious" - pissing contest over there everyday.
