Developments Of Regional Impact by Geniusofdespair

In My December 19th Post, Land Use 101, I talked about DRI’s. Developments of Regional Impact. Or, in other words, VERY LARGE DEVELOPMENTS. Here is a map with all the DRI’s in Miami Dade County that are in the pipeline or have been built already or rejected.

Commissioner Katy Sorenson did review these DRI’s, representing Miami Dade County, at the State Level. But then county commission chair Joe Martinez took her off the Regional Planning Council as retribution for her opposition to moving the Urban Development Boundary.

Governor Jeb Bush intervened and stopped all but one of the applications from going through, but Katy Sorenson was still off the Regional Planning Council.

Sally Heyman is still on the Council. Her election campaign got lots of money from DRI Developers such as Ed Easton. Ed, who is developing “Parkland” South West of Kendall Drive said he envisions another Weston out there.

He owns a zillion acres. (Weston is the city in Broward that sticks into the Everglades like a sore thumb.)

To look at a clearer copy go to this link, also to find out the status of any of these project go to: Damn DRI’s
