Coral Gables Election Sewer Pit. By Geniusofdespair

We have not been following the Coral Gables election but Discourse.Net has been and they have uncovered a Julio Robaina connection in PAC campaign contributions. Pretty slimy stuff going on in the City Beautiful - namely the police union paid for an attack ad.

It sure seemed more of a disclosure of facts to some people, rather than an attack ad.

Attack ads are non factual based most of the time, this was nothing but facts easily available to most Coral Gables Citizens.

The sender seems secondary to the facts about a candidate who has been arrested (and paid restitution), declared bankruptcy, and experienced a tax lien. I wish the public would've been aware of the degree of David Rivera's "deadbeat-ness" BEFORE the election. At least in Coral Gables, we're now well aware of this guy's past.

Gonzalo Sanabria also went bankrupt as did County Commissioner Joe Martinez.

Have not been following the issues and I don't want to put charges made by campaigns without having followed it. Go post on Discourse...he is following the issues.

Just answering your post's comments, once more, bankruptcy does not embezzelment, fraud, and default make. Very, very different attributes. Maybe this time it won't get deleted., and yes, some of us have been following discourse.net, not much there though.

Walter Granados says:

The FL FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) called for a donation today. Usually, I don’t answer these solicitation calls, but I felt a little venting was seriously in order. I got the whole spiel about how funds would benefit the police, blah, blah, yatta, yatta, and would I contribute like I had last year (What was I thinking?). And then I said, “No, and I tell you why.” Poor guy didn’t know what he was getting into when he dialed my number…”The funds I would send you would go to smear a local political candidate in Coral Gables; mailers filled with half-truths and vitriol. How dare the Gables FOP get involved in such disgusting behavior, so degrading their professional oath of service! This small band of thugs would not be getting my money and you can tell them I said so!” I’m not sure if the message will ever get back to them, but I sure felt better. I wish more people would pick up the phone like I did and generate some critical mass of disgust, but I know pigs don’t fly. Or maybe in Coral Gables they do.

No, contrary to your assumptions, I like reading all sides and opinions, whether they concur or differ from mine, what I meant was that there are not many threads there regarding the election itself, last thread was on March 20th.
