Elaine was the longtime companion of Bell's husband's boss, owner of the Action plumbing company. Bell currently has a temporary restraining order against Elaine. The hearing is about to start.
Well I left in the middle so I wouldn't get into traffic. One word of advice after almost 2 hours of watching this hearing:
NEVER GO TO COURT WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY. EVER!!!
Judge King was nice enough. But when Ms. Navarre, representing herself, tried to enter info into the record he wouldn't let her for reasons she didn't quite understand as she is not a lawyer. She had carried in a giant pile of documentation she never got to use. Navarre became exasperated by the constant turn downs by the judge and then he became short with her. It was escalating when I left. On two occasions two officers came forward towards Navarre, ready to pounce. Unnecessary. Bell seemed pleased with Navarre's failure to present a coherent case.
Bell also had a body guard. Hmmm, are we paying for that? Bell claimed the phone messages left by Navarre were threatening. Navarre said she just wanted the Action Plumbing truck back. Bell said she didn't know about the truck until she got Navarre's calls. Well, duh. Navarre said she saw the truck parked in back of the flop house (what she called the hotel) that Lynda's husband purchased with that questionable mortgage given by John DuBois's business partner.
Bell previously made a complaint of Navarre violating an order of protection in 2009 (apparently this feud is ongoing). The only problem was the violation in question occurred in front of Navarre's home. What was Bell doing over there? There are 2 sides to every story. Navarre says Bell uses her position of power to harass her (when Mayor and now as Commissioner).
On another Lynda Bell note, her former staff member Lois Jones filed a lawsuit on 8/8/2012 against Miami Dade County. Apparently she is suing regarding her termination by Lynda Bell. Lynda is in hot water all over the place but this termination is going to cost the taxpayers.
Anyway, the judge did finally find for Bell according to Navarre, giving Bell a final order of protection. I am not surprised. I could see how it was going when I left.
